In honor of Easter tomorrow... get baking!

These sugar cookies are (in my humble opinion) THE BEST! My friend Jenn gave me the recipe and I'm sure she wouldn't mind me sharing it. Now hurry, you still have time to get some whipped out before all the Easter festivities tomorrow...

Sugar Cookies
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1/2 cup sour cream
2 2/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix first five ingredients. Mix in sour cream. Combine dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture. Roll out and cut cookies on floured surface. Place on cookie sheet and bake for 6-7 minutes at 425 degrees. Allow to cool before frosting.

Butter Cream Frosting
1 stick butter, at room temp.
3 3/4 cups confectioner's (powdered) sugar
3 to 4 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Place butter in bowl and mix with electric mixer on low speed until fluffy, about 30 seconds. Stop the machine and add sugar, 3 tablespoons of milk, and vanilla. Blend with the mixer on low speed until sugar is incorporated, about 1 minute. Increase the speed to medium and beat until light and fluffy, about 1 minute more. Blend in up to 1 tablespoon more milk if the frosting seems too stiff.

Enjoy!
Steph
